Out with the old, in with the new
As our online quotation service Elite continues to grow in popularity, the tenure of its predecessor, OnCover.com, comes to an end on 31 December 2013.
For those of you unfamiliar with the site, OnCover.com was launched in 2006 to complement our OnCover self-issue pack. After enjoying initial success in the first few years, it became apparent that the self-issue cover note format was limiting its growth.
Spectacular growth
With newer technology giving us greater options, we set about designing a more dynamic website which would be faster, more flexible and offer a wider range of covers. This resulted in the launch of Elite in 2009, which was an instant hit with solicitors and conveyancers.
Since then, the number of quotes and policies ordered via Elite have increased by upwards of 50% annually. And our customers have made it clear to us which site they prefer, as a large number of current Elite users have migrated from OnCover.com.
We've improved Elite with the addition of new covers, premium adjustments and a Live Chat facility, and we're now so confident that Elite has more to offer our customers, that we've taken the decision to shut down OnCover.com.
The future of legal indemnities
We've written previously in intouch about the advantages that legal indemnity websites hold over self-issue packs (see Change for the better, autumn 2013 edition), and as the service offered by Elite continues to expand, we're wondering how long conveyancers will continue to use cover notes from self-issue packs. The packs are still popular currently, but as more and more clients discover the convenience of arranging insurance quickly and easily online, it would seem the self-issue format may eventually be redundant. Until that time comes, of course, we're more than happy to continuing offering cover via our OnCover pack too.
For those yet to discover Elite, why not take a look and see what you've been missing? It takes just a couple of minutes to register and you can use the site immediately. Alternatively, you can call us on 01603 617617 and we’ll be happy to register you on your behalf.
